Echostrategies

The Work

Three areas.
One practice.

Institutions, leadership, and capital shape one another. ECHO works at the level where decisions in one can change what is possible in the others.

01

Strategic Consulting

The institution.

Conditions change. Institutions have to decide what changes with them.
ECHO works alongside leadership and boards through the decisions that shape what comes next. We are close enough to understand the institution and far enough outside it to see what may be harder to see from within.

  • Strategic planning and direction
  • Governance and institutional strengthening
  • Organizational design and infrastructure
  • Growth and transformation
  • Succession and transition
  • Partnerships and collaborations

We do not leave you with a plan that depends on us to make sense of it. The people responsible for carrying the work forward are part of building it from the beginning.

02

Executive Advising

The leader.

ECHO offers a private place to think through the decisions that come with leadership, with someone who understands the demands of your role and the institution around you.

  • Executive counsel
  • Leadership transitions
  • Board and executive alignment
  • Decision support at critical moments

Your decisions matter. So does how you lead through what follows.

03

Philanthropic Strategy

Capital and the field.

Deploying capital well requires more than choosing what to fund.
ECHO works with funders and philanthropic leaders to see the field and the institutions within it clearly, understand where capital can matter most, and determine what needs to exist around it.

  • Philanthropic strategy
  • Field and landscape analysis
  • Capital deployment
  • Funding models
  • Partnership and coalition strategy
  • Institutional and initiative design

Sometimes the question is where to invest. Sometimes it is what the field needs that does not yet exist. We work on both.

THE PRACTICE

Built on experience.

ECHO is a practice, not a personality.

We are built on a network of senior practitioners who have led institutions, directed capital, and guided leaders through their most consequential decisions.

Deliberately small

We take on a limited number of engagements each year so we can give each one the attention it deserves.

Assembled around the work

ECHO is not built around a fixed team. We assemble the senior practitioners each engagement requires.

Relationship-led

Most engagements begin through referral or an existing relationship. Trust comes first.

Private on purpose.

We do not publish our clients or our practitioners. We do not share case studies.

Much of our work begins before an institution or leader is ready to talk publicly about what is changing. Discretion is part of the practice. References are provided confidentially, with permission, when an engagement is under consideration.

What ECHO means

The commitments every engagement advances.

Equity. Who has voice, access, and consequence matters. Capital. Money aligned to what matters most. Humanity. People at the center of every decision. Outcomes. The work has to leave something stronger behind.
